Golf Tournament Restrooms in Philadelphia, PA

A golf tournament needs a unit roughly every four holes plus a bank at the clubhouse, so a standard shotgun-start scramble on an 18 hole course takes five to seven units. Event day rates run $200 to $400 each. Turf protection matters more here than anywhere else we deliver.

Where do units go on a golf course?

Space them so no group is more than about two holes from one, then add capacity where people gather. On a scramble the field is spread across all 18 tees at once, so a single bank at the turn does not work.

  • One unit near the tee on holes 4, 8, 12 and 16, or the equivalent spacing on your routing
  • A bank of two or three near the clubhouse and the registration table
  • One at the halfway house or the beverage stop, which sees more traffic than any hole
  • One at the practice range if warm-up runs longer than 30 minutes
  • An accessible unit at the clubhouse bank, minimum

That last one is a rule rather than a courtesy. The 2010 ADA Standards, section 213.2 Exception 4, require 5 percent of the single-user units in a cluster and never fewer than one to comply with section 603, and the clubhouse bank is a cluster. See ADA accessible units.

Getting a truck onto a golf course

This is the part that separates a golf job from every other event we run. Courses are built to carry carts and mowers, not a loaded service truck, and a wet fairway will hold a tyre print for a season.

What we work to:

  • Cart paths only, unless the superintendent says otherwise in person
  • Placement within reach of a path, so the unit is carried the last stretch rather than driven to
  • Early morning delivery before dew burns off is often worse, not better, since soft turf marks easily
  • Mats under any unit sitting on grass for more than a day
  • No placement on an irrigation head or a drainage line, which the grounds crew will point out in seconds

Walk the routing with the superintendent before you finalise the order. Every course has three spots where a unit is fine and two where it is absolutely not, and they know which is which. Our placement guide covers the general clearances.

Golf tournament restroom pricing

Typical market ranges, reviewed July 2026. These are ranges rather than quotes, and a course order usually carries one delivery charge for several drop points rather than one per unit.

ItemTypical rangeBasis
Standard unit$200 to $400event day
Deluxe flushable$250 to $500event day
ADA accessible$199 to $400event day
2 stall trailer, clubhouse$900 to $1,500event day
Handwash station$75 to $175per unit
Delivery$50 to $150per movement
Weekend rate, standard unit$125 to $400per weekend

A Friday to Sunday member-guest costs less per day than three single-day rentals. Ask for the weekend rate. What porta potty rental costs has the full breakdown, and trailer pricing covers the clubhouse option.

Which unit type suits a tournament?

Three choices, and the answer usually differs between the course and the clubhouse.

A standard unit is a self-contained cabin with a 60 to 70 gallon holding tank and no plumbing, roughly 44 by 48 inches on the ground. That is what goes out on the course, because it is light enough to place off a path and it needs nothing.

A deluxe flushable unit adds a foot-pump flush and a small freshwater tank of around 15 gallons. Worth it near the clubhouse where the field gathers.

A restroom trailer is a towable unit with flushing china, running water and climate control, needing a level pad and a 110 volt 20 amp circuit on manufacturer specs. That is a clubhouse or dinner-tent decision, not a course one. Sizes run 2 stall and 4 stall.

Golf tournaments around Philadelphia

Almost none of this work happens inside the city limits, which is worth saying plainly. Philadelphia is dense and rowhouse-built for most of its area, and tournament golf sits out in the ring: Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks and Chester counties, plus the New Jersey side.

That puts the drive into the price in a way a city event does not. King of Prussia is 17.3 miles out at about 31 minutes, Norristown is 18.8 at 32 minutes, and Doylestown is 26.2 miles at 48. On the Jersey side Cherry Hill is 13.6 miles but reached over a bridge, so the delivery window is set by the crossing rather than the mileage. Full distances on service areas.

Bank of portable restrooms set up for an outdoor event

Do I need a permit for tournament restrooms?

On a private golf course, no. A portable toilet on private property does not need a city permit anywhere in this region. What you need is the club's permission and the superintendent's placement approval, and those are the harder of the two.

If any part of the event spills onto public ground, Philadelphia routes portable toilet permits through the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health under its infectious waste program, on the application that also covers holding tanks, rather than through a streets department. Outside the city each township sets its own rule, so a Montgomery County course and a Bucks County course can differ. Start from permit requirements.

Tournament restroom questions

How many units for a 144 player shotgun?Five to seven, spread as above, with the clubhouse bank taking two or three of them.

Do units need servicing during the round? Not on a single round. ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 puts the baseline interval at once a week for about 10 users a day, and a course unit on tournament day sits well inside what a full tank handles.

What if the course is wet on the morning? We place off the path and carry, or we move the placement. A truck on a soft fairway is a repair bill nobody wants.

Can you put a trailer at the dinner tent?Yes, given a level pad, a tow path and power. Luxury trailers are the usual choice for a member-guest dinner.

Do you handle the waste from the event?Yes. A 10 yard dumpster covers most tournament catering waste.

How early should we book?Four to six weeks in the season. Charity outings cluster on the same handful of dates in May, June and September.
