How fast can you get a porta potty delivered in Philadelphia?
Next working day on most standard units, and same day is often possible on a Center City or South Philly address if you call early. Trailers and multi-unit event orders need more notice, usually three to five days, because they get scheduled around the venue rather than around the truck.
The thing that slows a Philadelphia delivery down is almost never stock. It is access. A rowhouse block with cars parked both sides and a one-way running the wrong direction takes a different truck route and sometimes a different time of day. Which unit do you actually need?
Four types cover almost every job in this city.
Standard. A standard porta potty is a single chemical toilet over a sealed holding tank with no running water. Manufacturer specs put the tank between 60 and 70 gallons and the cabin near 44 by 48 inches with a 92 inch height. It suits jobsites, back yards, and any event where guests are not dressed up. Deluxe flushing. A deluxe flushable unit adds a foot pump flush off a reservoir manufacturers spec near 5 gallons, plus a hand sanitiser dispenser and a mirror. Worth the step up for a garden party or a client-facing site.
ADA accessible. An ADA accessible unit is roughly 62 inches square, because the 2010 ADA Standards call for a 60 inch turning space in section 304.3.1 and a 32 inch clear door opening in 404.2.3. Any event open to the public needs at least one. The ADA restroom requirements guide covers how many.
Restroom trailer. A restroom trailer is a towable unit with flushing toilets, sinks with running water and climate control, used where a standard unit would embarrass you. Sizes run from a 2 stall through a 4 stall to an 8 stall, with luxury and shower trailer options above that.
What does it cost to rent a porta potty here?

Where you sit inside those bands is mostly about the street. A driveway drop in the Northeast is a different job from a Queen Village block with nowhere to stop the truck, and honest pricing reflects that rather than hiding it in a surcharge.
How does servicing actually work?
A service visit is not a wipe down. The truck pumps the holding tank out, rinses it, recharges the deodoriser, restocks paper and sanitiser, and wipes the touch surfaces. ANSI/PSAI Z4.3, the industry standard for non-sewered waste systems, treats one visit a week as the baseline for normal use, and that is what we schedule unless the traffic on your unit says otherwise.
Volume drives frequency. A full 60 gallon tank carries more than 500 pounds of waste at 8.34 pounds per gallon, so a busy crew or a festival bank needs a mid-run visit rather than a bigger unit. Rowhouse blocks are the hard part of this job
Most of Philadelphia is rowhouses, and that shapes this business more than anything else. South Philly, Point Breeze, Fishtown, Kensington, Grays Ferry and much of West Philadelphia are narrow, parked solid on both sides, and often one-way.
What that means when you book:
- One car in the wrong spot can stop a delivery outright
- Some blocks can only be served at particular hours
- A rear yard placement may need the unit walked in through an alley, and at 150 to 200 pounds empty that is a two person lift
- Trash and recycling days change what is possible on some streets
- Re-delivery after a failed access attempt is normally chargeable

Two things we will not do, because they go wrong every time. We will not promise a same-day drop on a block we have never seen without someone on site to move a car if it comes to that. And we will not quote a walked-in rear yard placement over the phone as though it were a curbside drop, because carrying a unit through a house is a different job and pretending otherwise just produces an argument on delivery day.
The permit goes to the Health Department, not Streets
Philadelphia is unusual here. Portable toilet permits are issued by the Department of Public Health under its infectious waste program, on the same application that covers holding tanks, rather than by a streets or transportation department. Anyone running an event with portable units has to apply there.
That routing surprises contractors who expect a streets department process, and it costs people days when they go looking in the wrong place. Events, from a back yard to Penn's Landing
Philadelphia runs a dense event calendar, and the big venues each have their own placement and access rules that come before pricing. Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, the Wells Fargo Center, Fairmount Park and Penn's Landing all handle vendor access differently, and Fairmount Park is large enough that placement is really a question of service vehicle routes.

Construction, renovation and long-term sites
Rowhouse renovation, university expansion and hospital construction keep this city's jobsites busy, and they book differently from events. OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers on a construction site, then one toilet seat and one urinal for every 40 workers above that. It counts people on site rather than companies, so a gut rehab with a framer, an electrician and a plumber counts all three.

What else goes on the truck
Most sites need more than toilets, and one delivery beats four.
Dumpsters. Roll off dumpster rental in 10, 20, 30 and 40 yard sizes. A 20 yard box measures roughly 22 feet long by 8 feet wide by

Septic and tanks. Septic pumping, tank cleaning, grease trap pumping, holding tank rental and emergency septic work, plus guides on pumping frequency, warning signs and pumping cost.
Fencing and site kit. Temporary fence rental in standard chain link panels, typically 6 feet tall by 12 feet wide, crowd control barriers, light towers and temporary power poles. Pricing on fencing is per panel per day.
Storage. Storage container rental in 20 foot and 40 foot sizes, plus mobile office trailers and container pricing.
Specialist. Camping units, farm and agricultural restrooms and disaster relief sanitation.

Do I need a permit for a unit in my back yard?No. Private property placements do not need one. The Department of Public Health application covers events and placements on public ground.
How long can I keep it?One day to several years. Past about ten days, ask for monthly pricing, because the per-day rate drops hard.
