Is Chester too far for a one-day rental?
Not too far, but it is the wrong shape of job. A 37 minute drive each way means a truck spends most of an hour and a half on the road for a single unit, and that shows up somewhere. Down here the numbers work when the rental runs weeks rather than hours.
Two ways to fix it honestly. Ask for monthly pricing if the job runs past about ten days, because the per-day figure drops hard once a unit goes on a standing schedule. Chester is a city, not a township
This matters for permits, and it is the thing people get wrong. Chester is a city in its own right rather than a township or borough, so it runs its own code and its own approvals rather than deferring to a township supervisor's office.
Ask the City of Chester before an event on public ground or a placement in the right-of-way. Private property is generally clear across this region. What does a porta potty cost in Chester?
Typical ranges, reviewed July 2026, market bands rather than a quote. Standard units run $125 to $250 for a weekend and $125 to $325 a month on a jobsite. Weekly servicing is $30 to $60. Delivery is the line that reflects the 22.6 miles.

Riverfront and industrial sites
The Delaware waterfront is where Chester's construction sits: redevelopment ground, industrial parcels and the approaches to the Commodore Barry Bridge. Those are open sites with room for a truck and no parked cars in the way, which is the opposite of a Philadelphia delivery problem.
OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then one toilet seat and one urinal for every 40 workers above that, counted by people on site rather than by contractor. Washing facilities come separately under OSHA 1926.51(f), which on an industrial site usually means a portable sink rather than a sanitiser stand. A 20 yard roll off measures roughly 22 feet by 8 feet by 4.5 feet, which on an open industrial parcel is a non-issue and inside a fenced compound is worth measuring first.
Stadium and campus events
Subaru Park sits on the waterfront and runs its own vendor access, as does Widener University for anything on campus and Harrah's Philadelphia for events on its property. Those rules arrive before pricing does, and they are usually about gate times rather than about the units.
For a public event, plan one unit per 50 guests over four hours, add 15 to 20 percent where alcohol is served, and include at least one ADA accessible unit, which runs near 62 inches square because the 2010 ADA Standards require a 60 inch turning space in section 304.3.1. Servicing this far out
Weekly as standard, following ANSI/PSAI Z4.3, the industry standard for non-sewered waste disposal systems, which treats one visit a week as the baseline under normal use. On a long Chester site we would rather set a fixed service day and hold it than fit you in around the city runs, because a 37 minute drive is not something to improvise.
If the unit is getting heavy use, ask for a second weekly visit rather than a second cabin. It is usually the cheaper answer.
